My father during the Great Depression. The photo taken by a man who traveled around and offered to take pictures for people. People were so desperate to have something good come around for a change. Payment was in the form of money if there was any, or food, or something of value. The photographer got some eggs in this case. Circa 1930's, not quite sure of the year.
He's in front of the house his dad built out of scrap wood. 3 rooms. He shared a room with his sister. A big wood stove in the kitchen was their heat.....A winter memory of his; waking up one teeth chattering morning and looking down curiously at a thin little line of snow leading from the wall to about halfway across the bedroom floor. Probably my most treasured photograph. - Skee.
